Employee Success Stories

Mark McCollum

Mark is a Regional Sales Manager who has been with SJE for 30 years.

Mark started his career building
cord sets, working up to control panels, moved into Quality Control, then Customer Service. He’s now a regional sales manager, residing in Washington State. “Sales did not come easily to me, but teaching and giving presentations did. I stuck with it and took a shot at every opportunity. I felt like nothing was out of reach…as long as I showed my ability to my manager and went forward with that competence.”

As he worked his way up in the company, one thing didn’t change for Mark—SJE’s flexibility. “They were so understanding whenever my family had to come first. They made room for me and treated my life with respect. They treated me like their family.”

Tim Bartholomew

Tim Bartholomew is an
operations manager who has been with SJE for 16 years.

He started his tenure in 2005 as a panel builder. He had a background as an electrician with trouble-shooting experience. At SJE, he was able to put those skills to practice. In 5 years, he moved from Production to Quality Assurance, then transitioned to a liaison role.

“I surprised myself—I discovered I had good people skills, even with people in different roles and a variety of personalities.” Tim found he was able to communicate and connect to the employees building the product as well as to management which made his transition to Operations Manager so successful.  It is an ability SJE finds valuable in leaders.

“It came down to some simple things: know my strengths, act as one team, find common goals, and be able to facilitate it all. I’m lucky my job fits what I do well.”
